Banica Nongrum felicitated for her feat

NONGPOH: Miss Banica Nongrum, a student of class V from Ingsaw Government LP School in Ri Bhoi district was felicitated on Saturday by the Mawhati Mahila Block Congress Committee in a function held at Nongjri village for her feat of achieving the third best post card letter writing on cleanliness in the country.

 

Nongrum who had also received an award from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on October 2 in New Delhi, was felicitated here with the support of the two local legislators of Nongpoh and Umroi, Mayralborn Syiem and George B Lyngdoh and former MDC of Mawhati, Otril Pamshong.

 

Speaking at the function, Ms Santi Jyrwa, President of the MMBCC lauded Nongrum for her feat which has made not just the district but the State and the region proud too.

“Competing with 114 millions of children from across the country is not an easy task, one requires hard work, dedication and sound knowledge to achieve like Nongrum” Jyrwa said adding that special thanks should also be given to her teachers for their exceptional guidance and mentorship.

 

During the felicitation, gifts and certificates along with cash were also given to Miss Banica Nongrum in recognition of her achievement and also to encourage her to do well in her future studies.

 

The felicitation programme here was also attended by MMBCC Secretary, Mrs Listilda Thongni, Ri Bhoi District Mahila Congress Committee (RBDMCC) Adviser, Mrs Cordelia Mawthoh, RBDMCC Treasurer, Mrs Mary Janet Lapang, Umsning Mahila Block Congress Committee Secretary, Mrs Helen Sun, Chairman of Nongjri Pyllun, Mr K Nongsiej, headmen and other village leaders.
