GUWAHATI: Meghalaya lost to Sikkim by one run on run rate in a rain-hit group A encounter of the Women’s Under-19 T20 League at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
The Meghalaya girls were ahead of their opponents when rain stopped further proceedings with Sikkim on 80 runs for the loss of five wickets in 18.3 overs.
Put to bat, Meghalaya scored 91 runs for loss of four wickets in 20 overs with captain Neha Hajong scoring a patient 28 (58 balls) while Deiphi Mawnai collected a quick 19 runs (23 balls).
In reply, Sikkim required 12 runs in 15 balls for a win, when rain stopped play.
Thymmei Lyngdoh and Deiphi Mawnai claimed two wickets each for Meghalaya.
Meghalaya will play their next match against Gujarat on Monday.
