Man arrested in MP’s Mandsaur with smack worth Rs 4 crore
Mandsaur: A man was arrested on Sunday after smack worth Rs 4 crore was allegedly seized from his car, police said. Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said accused Rehmat Ali (25) tried to speed past the police checkpoint when asked to stop. “The vehicle was, however, stopped and on searching it, we found smack worth Rs 4 crore in the international market,” he said. “Rahmat has said that he was going to Devalji in Rajasthan to deliver the consignment to a person called Chintu Musalman. Further investigations are underway to ascertain details of the contraband,” Singh informed. (PTI)
Couple commits suicide as daughter elopes with lover
Coimbatore: Depressed over their only daughter eloping with a man outside their community, an elderly couple allegedly committed suicide at their house in Pollachi, some 35 km from here Sunday. The couple had advised their 24-year-old daughter, who had fallen in love with the man while in college, not to continue the affair, police said. However, the daughter left home last evening, telling her parents that she was going to live with him, they said. Upset over her decision, her mother called a woman relative last night and told her that both she and her husband were going to commit suicide by consuming insecticides. The woman who rushed to the house with some relatives, found the couple lying unconscious on the floor and they were immediately rushed to the Government hospital in the town. However, both husband and wife passed away en route to the hospital, police said. The relatives could not contact the daughter as her cell phone was switched off, they said. (PTI)
13 nabbed after violence over youth’s death in UP accident
Muzaffarnagar: Thirteen people were arrested following violence over the death of a youth in a road accident in Malira village, police said on Sunday. The police had booked 150 people in connection with the violence and arrested 13 people Saturday, they said. Irate villagers had blocked Malira road and pelted stones after the youth was killed by a vehicle in a road accident, they added. (PTI)
Minor boy sodomised in UP
Muzaffarnagar: A five-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a man and found with serious injuries at a field in a village, police said on Sunday. The boy, who was found with injuries to his private parts, is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, he said. The perpetrator is at large and a search was launched to nab him, the SHO said. (PTI)
