JOWAI: The fencing wall of Jowai Public School in West Jaintia Hills collapsed early on Sunday morning crushing three cars parked near the wall on the PWD internal road.
The wall was being constructed and a portion allegedly crumbled due to use of sub-standard materials. The construction work was being executed by a local contractor under the Public Works Department. The debris was cleared later in the afternoon.
“The fencing wall was not properly constructed and this is due to negligence of the PWD and the school authority,” said Remthang Pangamte, a resident.
The school is in Mooralong locality of Jowai and the cars were parked overnight.
