12-year-old drowns in WKH river

NONGSTOIN: A 12-year-old boy identified as Petalson Mawblei drowned in a river at Nongthymmai village in Mairang on Monday.
Sources informed that Petalson along with his 14-year-old friend Balajied Nongrang went to a nearby jungle for cutting firewood.
During the daytime the boy suggested to go for swimming in the river in which Balajied refused to go.But subsequently around 1pm he went alone to the river for swimming and never returned back.
She went in search of him and found only his clothes in the riverbank and did not notice as the water is not normally clear. Then she suspected that something happened to him and shouted for help. When people came, they conducted a search inside the water by using a fish net and finally they found his body and took it out.
The people informed the Mairang Police where inquest was conducted on the spot by the EO.
No visible injury marks was found on the body. Relatives and witnesses were examined and they stated that there is no suspicion of any foul play but the cause of death is purely an accidental one. So, they approached the Court for exempting the body from post mortem examination. The body was later handed to the relatives for performing the last rites.
