Islamabad: A banking court in Pakistan has extended interim pre-arrest bail of former president Asif Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and 13 others in a money laundering case till November 13.
The judge while adjourning the matter on Tuesday, extended the interim bail granted to Zardari, Talpur and around 11 others, including Zain Malik, the son-in-law of real estate tycoon Malik Riaz and three sons of Anwar Majeed. Former Pakistan Stock Exchange chairman Hussain Lawai was also produced from prison.
Initially, the FIA detained Lawai and Raza (another detained banker) in July for allegedly facilitating opening of 29 ‘fake’ bank accounts. One such bank account maintained in Summit Bank was used for transactions to several business entities, including Zardari Group, Omni Group and others. (UNI)
