Eroded Durga temple at Balat needs government help for restoration

SHILLONG: The Goddess Durga temple at Balat constructed in 1948, which have been damaged by soil erosion along the river Umngi for the last two months, has not been repaired   till yet

Mawsynram MLA, HM Shangpliang said that there was no action from the Government yet on repairing of the temple.

Shangpliang said that this year, Durga puja was held on the banks of the river in a temporary pandal.

Shangpliang during the festive season of Durga puja visited Balat puja pandal to greet the people, He also visited all the seven puja pandals along the border falling under his constituency and greeted the people.

The puja pandals which he visited were Pataghat, Ryngku, Lalpani, Purnonagar, Dangar Nongkriah and Sonatola.
