SHILLONG: Senior Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh feels that the upcoming MDC elections will be a turnaround for the party in the autonomous District Councils.
Talking to media persons here recently, Lyngdoh said that the party had already announced a calendar of deadlines to all party supporters who are interested to apply for the MDC elections tickets
Stating that applicants from across the board are coming to the party for the tickets, she sounded optimistic that Congress may again re-establish its position in the District Councils.
“I do not anticipate that we will have too much of a problem. Some of the former MLAs who did not make in 2018 will also move in and would have a role to play in the MDC election,” Lyngdoh added
When asked about the NPP, she said that this was the first innings of NPP when was in power.
“I have a feeling that in the Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills region particularly, the basic understanding of the ideologies of the NPP is very vague. We still don’t have a clear picture of the programme, plans and policies of the NPP,” Lyngdoh added.
