Another hidden GNLA arms haul in Garo Hills

TURA: East Garo Hills police have unearthed another cache of hidden wepons belonging to the banned GNLA and it’s slain leader Sohan D Shira on Wednesday morning.
The weapons seized included an AK rifle and seven pistols and over two thousand ammunition of various calibre as well as mortar shells and hand grenades.
” Based on information from villagers we conducted a search and recovered the hidden arms from two jungle sites- Rongbokgre and Nengmandalgre,” informed East Garo Hills SP R T G Momin to The Shillong Times.
The police have not ruled out the hand of some close associates of the deceased GNLA chief behind the arms stash and believe it may have been a recent job given the high quality of some of the seized items which do not appear to have been damaged by the recent monsoon weather.
Barring the the AK rifle which had a broken trigger assembly and three shotgun rifles, a huge quantity of fresh GNLA demand notes and receipt books were found in the hideout.
It is strongly suspected that some overground workers may have been attempting to undertake an extortion drive using the name of the outfit.
The total number of weapons and other items seized from the hideout were one AK rifle with broken trigger assembly, Two SBBL rifles, One SBML rifle, Seven pistols, Two AK magazine, One .303 LMG magazine, Five SLR Magazine, Two INSAS Magazine, Seven pistols with magazines, Three powerful mortar shells, One 36 High Explosive Hand Grenade, Two Under Barrek Grenade Launcher grenades, 2823 live ammunition of various calibres, Two Remote controls for IED, Eleven time bomb circuits, Twelve RC bomb circuit, Ten time bomb batteries, Three Wireless counication sets,Thirty four WT set battery chargers,Twenty WT set adapters, Six WT set battery covers, Forty six WT set headphones, Four tactical pistol holsters, Velcro tape rolls and GNLA demand pads receipts, among others.
