Two deaths at stone quarries

NONGSTOIN/NONGPOH: A 46-year-old man died on Tuesday after a rock hit him when he was working at a stone quarry at Mawrok Porsohsat in West Khasi Hills.
Sources said the incident happened around 3pm when Medarling Sangriang was working. He died instantly.
The headman of the village informed Nongstoin police who visited the accident site.
A similar incident happened in Ri Bhoi around 3pm on Monday. Dikstar Nongphud sustained injuries after a boulder fell on him when he was working at a stone quarry at Umeit. When he was taken to CHC Bhoirymbong, the doctor there declared him brought dead.
