NDFB-S cadre arrested in Kohima

GUWAHATI: Security Forces have arrested a self-styled lance corporal of the banned (NDFB-S) along with another person from Kohima in Nagaland.

 A defence source informed that an operation was launched on the basis of specific information and two individuals were apprehended during the operation.

 The apprehended persons were identified as self-styled lance corporal, Biki Basumatary  (28) of the banned NDFB (S), son of Late Gurucharn Basumatary, resident of village – Gohpur of Sonitpur district of Assam.

Another youth, Nerswn Narzary (18) years who hails from Kokrajhar district in Assam was also apprehended along with the NDFB-S militants.

The recoveries included a Nokia mobile phone and cash of ` 1,000/- in Korean Currency. 

Biki Basumatary revealed that he had undergone three years of training in Thulu Camp of NDFB (S) in Myanmar. He had gone to Myanmar in 2014 and recently reached Kohima. He was temporarily staying in general area D Block, Kohima. He had come to Kohima with specific direction from his hierarchy for recruitment of new cadres and also to act as a linkup man between NSCN (K) and NDFB (S).

 He was instructed to facilitate transportation of newly-joined cadres from Assam to Myanmar through Kohima. The apprehended persons  along with all recovered items were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.
