Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng areas to get new roads

NONGSTOIN: The long pending demand of repairing the roads of Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng area, West Khasi Hills, has finally been fulfilled after more than a decade.
Legislator of Nongstoin Constituency, Macmillan Byrsat informed that the PWD through the Superintending Engineer (SE) has called a tender of Rs. 3.51 lakh for construction of several roads in an around Mawkhlam- Nongpyndeng village ahead of the KJP Synod Samla  of Presbyterian church and the Catholic Church service.
The MLA informed that the SE PWD has called a tender for five different roads including blacktopping of roads from Borsing Secondary School to Presbyterian church, from SE PWD Office to Mawkhlaw till Ladnongsba, Nongpyn-deng to Siejlieh, Wahriat to NDSA Playground and others.
He added that the tender for Nongstoin – Darugiri (Nondein to Ladnongsba) road was called by the Chief Engineer PWD for Rs.2 crore.
The total amount sanctioned for roads is Rs. 5, 51, 33,900.
Byrsat also said with the start of the construction work, a long pending demand of people of the area has been fulfilled.
