Holding events to become costlier in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The Cabinet  on Monday accepted the proposal of the Taxation Department to enhance the fees charge from the organisers for holding of  various events in the State.

As per the proposal submitted of the Taxation, Tynsong said that the Government would charge a fees of Rs 25,000 per day for events which has crowd of 2000 and above.

He said that the Government at the same time would charge fees of Rs 20,000 per day for the event with less than 2000 crowd per day.

“The government also decided to introduce a new slab to be known as Super Mega Event where it will charge a fees of Rs 1 lakh per day for an event which has a crowd of more than 5000,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet also appproved the proposal of renaming the Sericulture and Weaving department as Department of Texitiles.
