Licence must for operating food business

JOWAI: The Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, West Jaintia Hills district, has asked all food business operators in the district to obtain food licence failing which the offender will be punished.
As per the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006, Rules and Regulation 2011, “any person running food business should start/operate food business under a license and should get themselves registered for operating food business in the district.”
Licence can be obtained from the office of the Food Safety. Carrying out food business without a license or registration is an offence, informed the official.
