Mock drills on earthquake on November 16-17 in Sivasagar

GUWAHATI:  National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in association with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) is organising State Level Mock Drills in all districts of the State on November 16-17 next.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Pallab Gopal Jha along with the Superintendent of Police Subodh Sonowal participated in a video conference held in this connection at the NIC video conference hall in DC’s Office.

The video conference was addressed by the Assam Chief Secretary Alok Kumar wherein Senior Consultant at NDMA Major General VK Dutta (Retd) gave a detailed presentation covering all areas of the ensuing mock drill.

Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar on Thursday directed the District Project Officer of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to draw out a detailed action plan for smooth organization of Mock Drills on Earthquake to be conducted in the district on November 16-17 next.

The response agencies like representatives from NDRF, SDRF, Army, Civil Defence and Fire & Emergency Services and heads of key line departments like Health, police, District Transport Office, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, PWD (B), Veterinary, APDCL, Social Welfare, APRO and DIPRO participated in the video conference.

In Sivasagar district, the mock drills will be conducted in the following five areas: residential area, hospital, shopping mall, schools/ colleges and industrial areas.
