2 girls among 3 dead as school bus collides with bus in C’garh
Raipur: Three persons, including two female students, were killed and eight others injured when a school bus collided with a city passenger bus on Wednesday in Atal Nagar, the upcoming capital city of Chhattisgarh, police said. The incident took place at Kayabandha square. Soon after being alerted, a police team reached the spot and the injured were taken to a local hospital while the bodies were sent for post-mortem, he added. According to the official, another girl student succumbed to her injuries. The deceased girls were identified as Aeni Kurre (Class III) and Durgeshwari Dhurva (Class V), and the school bus conductor as Naresh Soni. Eight other students are being treated at the hospital. A case was registered in this connection and the driver of the city bus was arrested, the official said adding that further probe is underway. (PTI)

Russian woman with two children held for trespassing
Sidhharthnagar: A Russian woman was arrested with her two children near Gorakhpur station on Wednesday, for trespassing into Indian Territory from Nepal. SSB commandant Janardan Prasad said that the Russian woman Nataliya trespassed into Indian territory with her two children from Sashashtra Seema Bal (SSB) post near Kakarhava town. Prasad said that the woman was arrested near Gorakhpur station and she was unable to produce any legal documents. During interrogation it was revealed that she had been living in Nepal for the past three years. She was later handed over to Gorakhpur police for further action. (UNI)

Man arrested for ‘derogatory’ remarks against PM
Kanyakumari (TN): A man was arrested for using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some BJP leaders in a video posted on social media, police said on Wednesday. Jenish Rajkumar was arrested at Saravilai near here, they said. According to police, he recorded the video in April when he was in Qatar and had used derogatory terms against the prime minister while commenting on the Kathua rape and death of a minor girl. Based on a complaint lodged by BJP district general secretary C Thangappan, Rajkumar was arrested, police added. (PTI)

Woman abducted in J&K’s Poonch, rescued hours later
Jammu: A woman was allegedly abducted by a man in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, but was rescued within hours, police said on Wednesday. The woman was rescued after one Mohmmad Qadir filed a police complaint at the Mendhar police station that his wife was abducted by Shah Nawaz Ahmad of Rajouri from her home Tuesday evening, they said. Raids were conducted at various places and the woman was rescued from a house in Thuddi Khandli in Rajouri within eight hours of her abduction, police said. (PTI)

Indian, Pakistani troops trade fire on LoC
Srinagar: Indian and Pakistani troops on Wednesday traded heavy fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Police said the Pakistan Army targeted Indian posts in Tangdhar and Keran sectors, after which the Indian positions retaliated. The police said heavy firing continued between the two sides for around 15 minutes at both places. No casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side. (IANS)
