SHILLONG: HSPDP was the pre-poll alliance partner of the UDP in the February 27 Assembly polls but the former on Thursday deplored that the UDP is taking decision on Lok Sabha and district council polls at its own ‘sweet will’.
In response to UDP declaring former MLA Jemino Mawthoh as a common candidate of the MDA for the Lok Sabha polls, HSPDP president K P Pangniang said on Thursday the party was not consulted on the matter.
“We have no say on UDP declaring Lok Sabha and district council candidates,” Pangniang said.
According to the HSPDP leader, though there is Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) comprising HSPDP and UDP, no meeting was held to discuss the election issue.
He said the HSPDP will meet soon to discuss the Lok Sabha and council candidates as currently the party is busy preparing for its golden jubilee celebrations.
