Arunachal lead Meghalaya by 129 runs on second day of Ranji Trophy

Shillong: Bowlers continued to rejoice on the second day of the Meghalaya-Arunachal Pradesh Ranji Trophy group match on Friday with 10 wickets falling before rain stopped play in the afternoon.
Resuming on 87/6, 79 runs behind Arunachal’s first innings total of 166, Meghalaya were bowled out for 141 in 40 overs. When the rain halted proceedings Arunachal were 104/6.
Captain Jason Lamare, who resumed on 42 not out, struck another 28 runs before falling for 70 when he was caught off the bowling of S Thakur. Lamare’s innings is the highest of the match so far. He had been given good company by Aditya Singhania, who was lbw to Subhash for 32. The pair had put on 47 for the seventh wicket.
Licha Tehi could not add to his three wickets from the first day and ended with figures of 3/31, while Subhash claimed 3/47 and Thakur 3/19. With a lead of 25 runs the visitors began their second innings with fine bowling by Meghalaya’s Abhay Negi and Lakhan Singh.
Lakhan bowled Doria for a duck with his first ball of the second innings and finished on 1/12 before the rains came down. Arunachal were then reduced to 14/3 before Kshitiz Sharma (41) and Obi (12) came together to put on 51 runs for the fourth wicket. Sharma was eventually caught by Meghalaya’s wicketkeeper Punit Bisht off the bowling of Negi, who ended the day with 3/29. Gurinder Singh (1/14) and Raj Biswa (1/22) were Meghalaya’s other wicket takers.
At stumps Arunachal’s captain-wicketkeeper Kamsha Yangfo was not out on 22 in partnership with Mohammed Shoyeb, who has yet to get off the mark. Arunachal finished on 104/6, with a lead of 129 runs going into the third day.
