SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) complained to the Director of School Education and Literacy Shillong on October 23 against school managing committees for deducting salary.
The association alleged that the committees deduct Rs 500-Rs 6,000 from the salary of each teacher every month. Alleging that the committees misused the salaries of teachers, the association went on to add that the state government has sanctioned fund specifically for paying salary of four categories of teachers in UP schools. MUPSTA urged the director to notify all sub-divisional school education officers to issue a caution to management committees against such deductions.
“The association will follow up with a legal notice if the managements continue to do injustice to teachers,” MUPSTA said in a statement.
The association requested all teachers to come forward and share their problems with MUPSTA.
