NONGPOH: The Hynñiewtrep Youth’s Council- Ri-Bhoi District (HYC-RBD) on Wednesday met the CEM of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), HS Shylla over the rampant issuing of trade and labour license to non-tribals in the district.
Earlier, the HYC through its ‘Sier Lapalang Operation’ conducted eviction of several non-tribals, who they claimed to be, ‘unchecked, undetected and undocumented’ while also reiterating that there are still large numbers of non-tribal traders who do not have the required licenses from the KHADC but still run their business.
HYC-RBD vice president, Jayson Lennox Nongrum in a statement also condemned the KHADC enforcement wing for its ‘reckless service’ stating that if the enforcement wing of the Council had worked properly, this issue would not have happened.
Nongrum further informed that the KHADC CEM had promised that he will personally take up the matter and that an inspection will be conducted soon in the entire Ri Bhoi with regards to labour and trading license.
