Eucharistic Procession held in Tura

TURA: The annual Eucharistic Procession which is associated with the feast of Corpus Christi, feast of the body and blood of Christ, was celebrated by the Catholic Church of Garo Hills on Sunday at Tura’s Sacred Heart Shrine.
Devotees from as far as Siju-Rongara in remote South Garo Hills and members from other far flung parishes arrived in Tura for the holy celebration which was led by Bishop of Tura, Rt Rev Andrew R Marak.
After completion of holy mass at Sacred Heart Shrine, devotees undertook a procession from the church through Wadang, St. Xavier’s school, Chandmari and K A road singing hymns and reciting the rosary and offering prayers.
The Eucharist, also called the blessed Sacrament, was placed in a monstrance and held aloof by the bishop during the procession.
The feast of the body and blood of Lord Jesus Christ and the procession with the Blessed Sacrament signifys God’s presence in our world and in our lives reminding devotees of one’s common pilgrimage to Heaven.
