U-12 & U-14 soccer football tournaments 2018
SHILLONG: The Shillong Sports Association will conduct the U-12 and U-14 Football Tournaments 2018 – 19 for its all affiliated Clubs from the first week of December 2018. Affiliated Cubs who are interested to participate in the Tournaments may contact the Office of the Association on all working days from Monday onwards for all other details. The last date to complete all formalities is November 30.
State athletes leave for Subroto Cup 2018
SHILLONG: H.Elias HSS left for New Delhi to participate in the National level Subroto Mukherjee Cup 2018 for the U-17 Boys Age category. Representing the state as the winning school from Meghalaya, H.Elias HSS is in pool E along with Assam, Chandigarh, Chattisgarh, and one team is yet to be confirmed. The team will be led by Coach B. L. Nongbet and Manager B. Lyngdoh. Meghalaya play 1st Match vrs Assam on the Nov 8, 2018.
2nd day and night futsal tournament concludes
SHILLONG: The 2nd day and night futsal tournament 2018 was organised by District sports office, Williamnagar in collaboration with Williamnagar District sports Association held recently. During the tournament, Chidekgre Williamnagar beat Northern United Tura by 3-2 in men’s category and Nengkra awe 8 sisters beat Loyala College by 3-0 in the women’s category. Local MLA and Chief Guest, M N Marak, Williamnagar Municipal Board Chairman Benedict Sangma, Rongjeng BDO, S Sangma and District sports Officer, Saljagring Marak distributed prizes to the Winners.
27th state karate c’ship 2018 concludes in city
SHILLONG: In the 27th state karate championship 2018, held at Laban Sports Club indoor sports hall, laban, Shillong, All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) emmerged as team champion (Men), SAI, STC, Shillong Emmerged as runner-up (Men). SAI, STC, Shillong won team champion (Women), All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) were the runner-up (Women); Ram Lanong, SAI, STC, Shillong won – best karateka (Men Junior); Ronald LyngdohNonglait, AMKA won best karateka (Men Senior); EmikaDeimaiaMyrthong, SDKA won best karateka (Women Junior); WandahunshishaMawblei, SAI, STC, Shillong won best karateka (Women Senior). Daniel Dann, District Sports Officer, East Khasi Hills District was the chief guest (Opening) and HunlangLytan, President, All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association was chief guest (Closing).
FC Goa to conduct football trials in city today
SHILLONG: Indian Super League club, FC Goa, who are partners of Mawkhar Sports Club, Mawlai Sports Club and Wahingdoh Sports Club, will conduct trials for players of these clubs on Monday, 5th November 2018, at 9:00 A.M. at Madan Heh Stadium, Mawlai, Shillong. Lokesh Bherwani, Head Scout, FC Goa reached Shillong on Saturday from Aizawl, Mizoram, where he conducted scouting. He will be scouting talented players from these three clubs and preference will be to players between 18-22 years. In a meeting on Sunday, the three clubs were represented by Shri Ranson Sutnga, Ksan Kupar Warjri, GEM Kharpuri and Manbha Kupar Warjri from Mawkhar Sports Club; Marsel Kharbani and Mawkordor Nongsiej from Mawlai Sports Club; and Markel Lyngdoh and Anthony Lyngdoh from Wahingdoh Sports Club.
