Proper implementation of schemes a challenge

MAWKYRWAT: Social Welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla on Tuesday attended the district level monitoring and review meeting held at Multipurpose Hall, Laitlawsang in Mawkyrwat. Local MLA, Renik L Tongkhar and Ranikor MLA, Pius Marwein were also present.
The officers gave a presentation of the schemes and projects and at the same time voiced concerns over the challenges they faced during implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shylla lauded the officers for their hard work and endeavour in overcoming challenges and turn them into reality.
He encouraged them to work hard in bringing development and progress in the district. He also hoped that with their cooperation and dedication, the newly created district will achieve its goal.
The local MLA also said that almost all the districts in the state have similar problems in road connectivity, water supply and communication network.
“When it comes to health, many people do not accept immunisation due to misconceptions”, he said while calling upon the officers to find ways and means to overcome the problems.
Tongkhar called or support and cooperation from officers in order to bring over all development through speedy and effective implementation of schemes in the district.
Marwein asked the officers to visit villages in far flung areas and that distance and bad road conditions should not be an excuse or roadblock for development in those villages.
“As officers you should create awareness and make people understand about the schemes of the government and make sure that people are not misled by rumours,” he added.
South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo also sought the intervention and support of the public representatives for speedy and effective implementation of schemes in the district.
After the meeting, the team visited the newly constructed Anganwadi Centre at Nonglang village, the Phot Umnew Minor Irrigation Project at Mawkyrwat and the Mawtongin Multiple Water Uses Model in Jakrem village.
