TURA: The entire house of a village headman near Tura was gutted in a devastating fire on Wednesday after a fire from the kitchen spread to the main house when the family was away.
The incident took place around 10:30 am when the family of Nokma Sheela A Sangma was away from home.
How the fire spread is being probed but it apparently started from the family kitchen and soon spread to the main house destroying everything in it’s path.
The fire even led to an explosion of a gas cylinder that was kept in the kitchen.
Fortunately, the family of three adults and two children were away from the site of the inferno when it happened.
