First ever concert and recital held at Williamnagar music school

TURA: The Educere School of Music, Williamnagar conducted its first concert and recital at the District Auditorium, Willamnagar recently. East Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, A Ch Marak graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Director of Bosco School of Music, Tura, Tengrang Sangma was the Guest of Honour.

During the concert, the School children of Educere Secondary School and choir performed dances and choral presentations while recital on violin, guitar, piano and vocals was done by the student of Educere School of Music, Williamnagar.

It may be mentioned that Educere School of Music, Williamnagar which is an annex of Educere Higher Secondary School was opened last year by the then Meghalaya Minister in-charge of Education Deborah C Marak. The Music School at present teaches Violin, Guitar, Piano and Vocals for students and is also offering Music in Elective Subject for­­­­ Higher Secondary School students. Hollyfield R Marak who has a Master’s degree in Music from Martin Luther University, Shillong is the Director of the Educere School of Music, Willaimnagar upon whose initiative the school choir was created. The Music school is open to all and students from outside the school and even working people from in and around the town have joined the only music school in the district.

Speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion, A Ch Marak said that incorporating music into academics is encouraging which will provide a platform for the students to take up music as a career for their future studies. He congratulated the Principal and staff of the Educere School of Music for this wonderful initiative and urged everyone to take the opportunity provided to them.

The Principal, Educere School of Music, Gamchi T R Marak said that the event was being organized as a fund raiser for the upcoming Silver Jubilee celebration of the School in 2019.
