SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which did not perform well in this year’s Assembly polls is now hoping for a good performance in the KHADC elections scheduled to be held early next year.
The BJP State President, Shibun Lyngdoh said, “We are in line now for the district polls as district committees including Mandal committee are in the process of identifying candidates.”
He said that similarly, lot of meetings were taking place in different districts to identify potential candidates
“Once we get the potential candidates, we will send it to central leadership for approval,” he said
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) says that it would contest the district council election because “unless they contest, how will they strengthen the base of the party”.
It may be mentioned that the party did not have a good run in this year’s Assembly as the party managed to win only two out of more than 40 seats which it contested in Meghalaya
Now only time would tell if BJP can improve its performance in the MDC elections where local regional parties have more domination as far as winning of seat is concerned.
