Inter-school ppt competition on healthy lifestyle held in city

As part of adolescent
month celebrations
under the aegis of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), members Meghalaya State Branch, organised an inter-school power point presentation competition amongst the students of Shillong. This competition was organised to create awareness and motivate adolescents for adopting healthy lifestyle under the theme ‘Healthy Lifestyle’.
The competition was conducted recently at St. Edmund’s School with Dr G Rangad, MS Nazareth Hospital, Lorraine Wallang from Food & Nutrition Industry and Laribha Dohtdang from Martin Luther University, as the Judges.
A total of nine schools participated with two-member team from each school. Students from class 7 – 9 were selected and gave well prepared presentations.
All the schools gave powerful presentations and it was over whelming to see that all of them emphasised about the mental health issues and negative effect of smoking, alcohol and drugs on adolescent health.
Aryan Zamal and Sidhant Purkayastha from St. Edmund’s School won the first prize, second position was bagged by Shekinah Marak and Ankita Ghosh from Queenie Secondary School, Laban.
Surojit Medhi and Kitboklang Maner from Hubert Memorial School, Umpling bagged the third prize.
They all motivated the audience to adopt healthy lifestyle so as to reap good rewards in adulthood.
Dr G Rangad and Brother Solomon Morris, Principal, St. Edmund’s School shared the Do’s and Don’t’s of making an effective presentation.
