NGO for ban on coal mining condemns assault on Agnes Kharshiing

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Co-ordination Committee of Coal Owners, Miners & Dealers Forum, condemned the assault of Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma on Thursday.

The Forum urged upon the law enforcing agencies to make a thorough investigation into the crime to nab the culprits.

The Forum who had spear-headed the campaign for  ban on coal mining in the State of Meghalaya and from the commencement of the ban imposed since 2014 had been impressing upon all members to refrain from violating the direction of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and had never tried to shield any person / persons or group of people indulging in illegal mining activities.
