SHILLONG: The president of United Achik Youth Federation (UAYF) of Gillagora, South West Khasi Hills zone has submitted a complaint letter to the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) recently regarding the alleged misuse of funds for the repair of school building and negligence in improving the functioning of Garobhita Adhoc LP School and Kuchiasora LP School, South West Khasi Hills.
The president demanded immediate investigation into the state of affairs of these two lower primary schools located in the border villages in the district.
President of United Achik Youth Federation, Sanggra Marak said these two schools were affected by the natural calamities in May last year and since then, the  schools stopped functioning for the whole year.
“No money was granted to repair these schools,’’ he said.
Marak inquired from the DSEL office as to whether there was any fund granted to repair these schools and to this, the Director said that there was a direction to sanction the relief and repair funds.
“But it is a matter of surprise that the beneficiaries have not received any package,” Marak said, adding that this resulted in prolonged delay in repairing the schools.
The students are at a loss since they are not able to attend any classes till date, he said.
Marak wanted immediate inquiry into the matter and action against those involved.
