Hek seeks people’s cooperation to eradicate Leprosy

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Health Minister A.L.Hek urged the people to be ambassadors of Leprosy Case Detection Campaign in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi in an effort to eradicate leprosy.

He was speaking at the launch of the programme on Monday at Shillong Civil Hospital organised by National Leprosy Eradication Programme, Meghalaya.

“All of you are ambassadors of the campaign. If there are any leprosy cases, we should take the responsibility to inform the Health Department,” he said.

State Leprosy Officer, M. Marbaniang urged people to cooperate when trained health teams visit their homes for checking any skin problems, tingling numbness, ulcers on hands and feet.
