SHILLONG: East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner FM Dopth on Monday admitted that lack of man power is affecting the strict enforcement of NGT ban on coal mining.
According to the deputy commissioner, there is no police battalion in the district and the existing police force is not sufficient enough to enforce the ban completely.
He said 80 per cent of the land in the district falls under the coal mining zone and adequate force will have to be deployed to check illegal mining and transportation.
