SHILLONG: The Chairman of Joint Committee of Other Backward Classes (OBC), R.G. Pradhan petitioned the commissioner and secretary, department of Social welfare on OBCs in Meghalaya being deprived of their rights.
He claimed that Central Government employees who are posted in Shillong from outside managed to get employment to their children in their offices by bringing OBC certificates from their respective states.
He went on to add that OBC children born and brought up in Shillong are deprived of their rights of employment in the OBC quota inspite of having requisite certificates/qualifications for the posts due to absence of OBC certificates.
