Poisoning water bodies in Pynursla banned

SHILLONG: The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, has issued an order prohibiting any person, organisation and others from indulging in or resorting to the act of poisoning of rivers, streams or any water bodies with the explicit or implicit intention to cause wide spread/large scale destruction of aquatic life within the Constituency.
The order is necessitated in view of the reports received that large scale poisoning of water bodies is taking place within the Sub-Division and the use of chemical and biological substance has resulted in large scale extermination of fishes and other aquatic organism there upon and such poisoning of aquatic bodies has endangered the local indigenous fishes, flora and fauna besides undermining the local ecology.
The unrelenting practice of this clandestine act of wanton destruction can result in unprecedented law and order problem within the Sub-Division, the order said
