Kidnapper behind Assam trader’s abduction nabbed

TURA: East Garo Hills police have arrested one of the gang members involved in the abduction of a ginger merchant from Assam on the road towards Rongsak village.
Police picked up Anseng T Sangma of Rongsak from Bamsamgre area on Wednesday night and also seized his maruti car that was used to transport the victim after the abduction.
After his arrest, he told police about the plan to kidnap the trader by other members of the group. To avoid detection, the criminals had shifted the victim from the motorcycle to the car.
Anseng is the second member of the group to be arrested in the kidnapping case, after Salsrang alias Mogo of Rongsak village.
The gang, consisting of 5-6 persons and having in their possession a pistol, stopped the vehicle the ginger trader Tapos Dey was travelling in at Bamsam Awe area, before reaching Rongsak.
He was released the same night following intense search operations conducted by police with active support from villagers. The gang took away seventy thousand rupees that was in the possession of the trader.
