Idols from Ugratara Temple in Guwahati stolen

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident of theft, the precious idols of ancient Ugratara Temple in the heart of Guwahati city at a stone’s throw from Latasil Police Station were in the wee hours of Friday while the priests of the temple were asleep in their residential quarter inside the temple complex.

The CCTV footage shows that a gang of four thieves committed the crime. The police have started investigation. The theft was discovered by one of the priests in the temple on Friday morning and then informed the police.
