Land revenue department staff caught red handed taking bribe

GUWAHATI: A land revenue department staff in the Circle Office of Kaliabor in Nagaon district of Assam was arrested on Friday by personnel of Assam Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau while he was taking bribe. The accused, Prafulla Kumar Bora, a lat mandal, was caught red handed while taking Rs 15000 in cash as bribe from complainant Md Nazrul Islam of Barghuli under Uluoni Police Station in Nagaon district of Assam. The bribe money has been seized from the possession of the accused. Connected files and documents have also been seized from the office of the accused. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 30000 for land mutation. The complainant was to pay the first installment of Rs 15,000 on Friday. Thus the complainant had approached the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police station in the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption, Assam and a trap was laid down as per standard procedure in matter of ACB PS Case No. 23/2018 u/s 7(a)/13(1)(b)/13(2) of PC Act (as amended in 2018). The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Special Court on Saturday morning.
