SHILLONG: The Customs department has seized high quality ganja in the city in the wee hours on Sunday.
A statement by Deputy Commissioner, Headquarters, Preventive Unit, said acting on a tip off, the Customs department intercepted a four-wheeler bearing Tripura registration number and seized 24 packets of high quality cannabis weighing 350.4 kg concealed underneath empty plastic crates.A person hailing from Tripura has been arrested and a case under the narcotics act has been booked.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was coming from Tripura and was bound for Guwahati. “Further investigation of the case is in progress to arrest other persons,” the statement added.
