SHILLONG:  BJP MLA, Al Hek has called upon his party to contest the upcoming bypoll to Selsella Assembly constituency in Meghalaya along with the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to media persons here on   Monday,  the MLA from Pynthorumkhrah, AL Hek said, “ We should contest the Assembly bypolls. If we don’t contest our workers will lose interest in the party and we being  national and a strong party so we should contest it.”

Denying speculations that he himself is trying to project  himself as the party candidate for Lok Sabha elections,  he said that   he had no intention to contest and had not even applied for ticket.

He however said that the issue whether BJP should contest the Lok Sabha elections from Shillong or not depended on the  central leadership and a final call would be taken by the party itself.

“ If you ask me, I will say that we should even contest the Lok Sabha elections from Tura as well,” he said

He also denied any threat to the MDA Government  while expressing confidence that the alliance is strong and it will complete its full tenure.
