Three killed, 7 injured in freak accident in WJH

JOWAI: Three persons were killed and seven others injured in two separate accidents in West Jaintia Hills on Friday and Saturday.
Sources said two trucks coming from opposite directions on Jowai Bypass collided on Friday night. This resulted in an altercation between the drivers and one of them from Nangbah informed his relatives.
The relatives came in a car and parked the vehicle in front of one of the trucks. In a twist of luck, another speeding truck dashed against one of the parked trucks that hit the car in front, instantly killing the two standing behind it. They have been identified as Shanki Pasi (20) and Lop Thubru (22) from Nangbah village.
One of the truck drivers later succumbed to injuries.
In another accident that occurred at 7th Mile on NH-44 around 8.45 am on Saturday, a car driven by Shainskit Dkhar (26) from Lumchyrmit village in East Jaintia Hills was hit by a truck driven by Gunjan Das (28). The car was coming from Tuber and the truck was going to Khliehriat from Guwahati.
Another truck loaded with clinker travelling behind the car also collided with the other truck. Dkhar, Das, Firstborn Ryngkhlem (22) from Tuber Kmai Shnong, Panborlang Langstang (23), Riky Langstang (20), Lovely Nongtdu (21) and Satyajit Dhar (20) were injured.
Dkhar and Ryngkhlem, both occupants of the car, were seriously injured and were shifted to Woodland Hospital’s ICU ward.
