SHILLONG:  The holding of Monolith Festival by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is under consideration by the Executive Committee of the KHADC.

This was as per the circulated reply of Executive Member (EM) in charge of Arts and Culture, Victor Rani to the query of Grace Mary Kharpuri who asked on whether the Monolith Festival will be held this year or not.

In reply to a supplementary query, KHADC CEM HS Shylla said the funds of the council couldn’t  cover the amount needed to hold the festival.

Speaking about the Heritage village in Mawphlang, he said, “The Executive Committee will have to visit the site. As for repairing the huts, it entail huge amount of expenditure.”

“There are many challenges and we have to thoroughly study the matter,” he added.
