TURA: Amison M Sangma from Rimrangpara village in South Garo Hills who was arrested from Shillong for allegedly murdering his pregnant wife way back in 2010, has been brought back to Baghmara and remanded to judicial custody on Saturday.

The accused had absconded since committing the crime for 8 long years. It was only on November 15 that police after receiving specific inputs were able to make the arrest from Malki locality in the city.

“After we began re-working on the case, we received information that Sangma may be in Shillong. As the Sub Inspector of Chokpot Police station Momin was earlier posted in Shillong, he activated his sources and circulated details of the suspect which ultimately led to his arrest,” police said.
