65th All India Cooperative Week celebration in WKH & SWKH

NONGSTOIN: The 65th All India Cooperative  Week 2018, was celebrated jointly by the Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Nongstoin and the Office of the Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mawkyrwat in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Limited, Nongstoin Branch at DRDA Hall, Circuit House in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills on Tuesday, under the theme ‘Inclusive Growth and Good Governance through Cooperative for Rural Prosperity’ and the topic of the day is ‘Skill and Technology up gradation through Cooperatives’.
B. Nongtraw, Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mawkyrwat informed the gathering that the week-long celebration is the initiative of the Cooperatives to showcasing the inner talent of the rural people about the success stories of their hard works and dedication and to improve their plans in the future.
The Cooperative Societies have played an important role to eradicate poverty and generate employment opportunities for the poorer sections, the celebration of the Cooperative Week every year through conference, seminar and workshops encourages the cooperative movement among the citizens in the rural areas, she added.
She concluded her speech by saying that cooperative movement should reach the policy makers and at the same time the general public has to strengthen and improve the working policy through the Cooperative Societies.
The programme was attended by around 200 participants from different types of Cooperative Societies and Self Help Group from both West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills Districts.

Meanwhile, the Cooperative Week was also observed at Mendipathar Multipurpose Cooperative Society Hall, North Garo Hills district where members of various cooperative societies operating in the district took part in the celebration. The programme was organised by the O/o the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya, Shillong & Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd. in collaboration with the All State Level Cooperative Federations.
T Kharsiing, Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Shillong, DH Kharkongor, Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Williamnagar and Sister Rose Kathiyan, Secretary, Mendipathar Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. were some of the speakers of the programme.
