MDC scheme work worth over Rs 2.5 lakh falls under GST Act

SHILLONG: The Bills for work done under MDC schemes fall within the purview of GST Act if the total value of the work executed by contractors exceeds Rs 2,50,000.
Deputy CEM Teilinia Thangkhiew said during the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Winter Session on Wednesday that the works executed by the local committee/managing committee is exempted from the purview of the GST Act.
In reply to a supplementary query raised by People’s Democratic Front (PDF) James Basaiawmoit, Thangkhiew said the KHADC received an direction from state government department of District Council Affairs to include MDC schemes within the purview of GST Act.
