Woman held for assault of activists

JOWAI: A woman was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the assault of activists Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma on November 8 in East Jaintia Hills.
The woman has been identified as Skemlang Dkhar (44) from Mooralong area in Jowai.
Dkhar, who is an active coal trader in Kongong area, is originally from Iongkalu. She has been evading arrest since the November 8 incident.
According to police, the arrest was made since she was involved in the attack on the activists.
The court has remanded her to five-day police custody.
Around 30-40 people were involved in the near fatal attack on the activists.
Till date, including the woman, five persons were arrested in connection the crime by the police.
