SHILLONG: The Metropolis Urban Winter Festival, the first ever in the city, has surprises aplenty — from art installations, paintings by children from Russia and fun activities.
The festival, which till last year was organised in Guwahati, has travelled to Shillong that has earned the title of ‘City of Festivals’.
The three-day winter jamboree started on Thursday and saw a heavy footfall, especially of youngsters.
The festival was on the theme of fighting plastic pollution and artists put up installations depicting the same. The decked up venues, the State Central Library premises and All Saints’ Hall, have several innovative treats for visitors. Even the bins placed at regular intervals at the venues have a touch of artistry.
The fest has two more venues, Polo Ground and Shillong Club. Many artists were yet to reach the city and will join the festival on the second day.
