GUWAHATI: The banned United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) in a statement emailed to the media here on Saturday claimed responsibility of Thursday evening blast at Demow in Sivasagar district in which two persons – Kamal Agarwal and Anup Gupta – were killed.
The blast took place in a hardware shop owned by Kamal Agarwal nd Anup Gupta was a customer. The outfit has clarified that Anup Gupta was not its target.
In the same e-mailed statement, the outfit refuted charges made by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in its preliminary report that it was the ULFA(I) that carried out the massacre innocent Bengali-speaking villagers at Dhola in Tinsukia district on November 1 last.
The ULFA-I stated, “We would like to remind NIA once again that way back in 2008 that in the investigative agencies preliminary report accused us for the serial bomb blast in Guwahati, however the truth prevailed at the end.”
