SHILLONG: A hearing on the deplorable condition of the Sonapur-Borkhat Road in East Jaintia Hills will be held on November 28, 2018 before the Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court.
In a statement issued here, an advocate from Umkiang village, East Jaintia Hills, Kynjaimon Amse highlighted the grievances faced by Indo-Bangladesh residents in Meghalaya to High Court Judge, SR Sen.
Sen converted it into a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and made the Union of India and State of Meghalaya parties to the PIL.
Amse expressed gratitude to the Meghalaya High Court Judge and was optimistic that justice would be delivered to the people in the border villages.
It may be mentioned that he has time and again placed his grievances about the deplorable road condition which connects the border villages Hingaria, Huroi, Lahalein and Lejri.
He along with his friends has requested the state government to build a road for the border villages with more than 3000 population but to no avail.
The Rymbai Bataw Borghat Jalalpur (RBBJ) project worth more than Rs. 97 crore has failed to get environment clearance even after the Government spent and gave more than Rs. 21 Lakhs to a private agency for getting the required clearance, Amse said.
“We have been told that the Government is unable to get clearance for the RBBJ road and therefore the Government is contemplating to make new proposal for the road. We have had enough of talks with the Government of Meghalaya and we have decided to take judicial recourse,” he asserted.
