Shillong: Meghalaya will have an uphill task on Sunday in order to secure a draw in their U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Uttarakhand in Dehradun, with victory almost beyond their reach. Resuming their second innings on 138/3 on Saturday, a lead of 218, Uttarakhand declared on 429/8, setting Meghalaya an imposing target of 510 for victory. Uttarakhand had made 220 in their first innings, which Meghalaya followed up with 140. Saurav Chauhan and Vijay Sharma both made 116 runs each for the hosts. Meghalaya captain Akash Kumar took 3/97 with Arbin Singh the next most successful bowler with 2/83. In their chase Meghalaya were constantly pegged back by the fall of wickets and ended the day on 85/7, a long 425 runs from victory. Tail-enders Akash and Arbin are at the crease and will look to occupy as much time as possible for what would be a heroic draw if they succeed.
