SHILLONG: Meghalaya suffered a 414-run defeat at the hands of Uttarakhand in a U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy plate group match in Dehradun on Sunday. Faced with an almost impossible task to eke out a draw on the final day, the match was wrapped up within a couple of overs just after the start of play. Meghalaya resumed their second innings on 85/7 and lost two batsmen off the first two deliveries. Akash Kumar and Lokesh Turaha added a further 10 runs, but there was not much the tail-enders could do and Meghalaya were bowled out for 95. Meanwhile, Meghalaya will play their second match in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy plate group against Puducherry in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, from Monday. Meghalaya had won their opening game by an innings and 157 runs against Mizoram.
