MAWKYRWAT: The BJP has decided to field its candidate for Ranikor (Langrin) district council seat but is unsure about Mawkyrwat.
The district vice president, D Marwein from Nongjri village, may be the candidate from Ranikor. Sources in the party have confirmed this saying Marwein has already started organising the party in the constituency.
“We are sure of contesting the MDC election from Ranikor and with Marwein, a prominent leader from Nongjri village, in the border area, as the candidate we will give a good fight (to rivals),” a BJP leader said.
The party is contemplating naming Nobendro Dkhar, general secretary of the BJP Mawkyrwat Mandal, as its candidate from Mawkyrwat.
However, the sources said the BJP was not sure of contesting from Mawkyrwat because Dkhar may not contest.
“As of now we are not sure but the final decision will be taken in the meeting of the BJP Mawkyrwat Mandal soon,” the sources added.
In a recent meeting in Shillong, the BJP had decided to contest both the seats.
